Hyperopia (Farsightedness)

Hyperopia (Farsightedness)

If you suffer from hyperopia or farsightedness, you are able to clearly see objects at a distance but have extreme difficulty focusing on objects directly in front of you. Normally, light rays enter the eye and are focused on the retina; but when you are farsighted, these rays are focused behind the retina instead.

The most common treatment for farsighted vision is the use of eyeglasses or contact lenses, which usually only need to be worn while reading or using a computer, but may be required to be worn at all times. Corrective surgery may be used in some cases, or when corrective lenses are not appropriate.

If you live in the Brampton area and believe you are suffering from farsightedness, give us a call toll-free at 905-457-4700 to make an appointment to speak with an optometrist.
