Meet Brampton Optometrist Dr. Renis Lapienis

Dr. Renis Lapienis is the head of the optometry team here at iSmile Optometry in Brampton. He founded the practice with his wife Dr. Lorraine Kelleher who heads the dental team,  approximately 40 years ago. They have been working together ever since, forming lasting relationships with their patients, and providing quality dental and eye care in a close-knit, and family-like environment.

Practicing optometry for over 40 years now, Dr. Lapienis especially enjoys working from his own optometry practice in Brampton, because of the savings he can pass on to his valuable patients – “Having my own office reduces my cost of running a business, so our patients can save on eyeglasses, contact lenses, service fees, and they don’t have to rush when making important decisions or when choosing the right eye wear.”

Dr. Lapienis describes himself as a passionate and detail-oriented optometrist whose goal is to meet all the vision health needs of his patients.

A graduate of the University of Waterloo, Dr. Lapienis is always seeking to continue his education, attending regular optometry seminars, workshops, and conventions.

He has held numerous positions with several optometry organizations, including assessor at the School of Optometry at the University of Waterloo and fellow of the American Academy of Optometry (FAAO). Dr. Lapienis has been on the board of the Vision Institute of Canada for 10 years, where he served as treasurer and president. He is also a member of the Ontario Association of Optometrists, and the Canadian Association of Optometrists.

Dr. Lapienis’ passions away from the office include playing bridge and billiards, exercising, traveling, cars and fixing things around the home.

Meet Brampton Optometrist Dr. Adam Lapienis

Dr. Adam Lapienis received his Doctor of Optometry from the University of Waterloo, graduating with honours in 2012.  For four months in New York City, Dr. A. Lapienis worked with renowned glaucoma specialist, Dr. Murray Fingeret, in St. Albans VA Medical Centre.

Prior to studying optometry, Dr. A. Lapienis received his Bachelor of Medical Sciences from the University of Western Ontario, also with honours.

If  Dr. Adam Lapienis looks familiar, it is because he has spent his summers working at iSmile for over a decade. But now, he looks forward to providing exceptional vision care while working alongside his proud father, Dr. Renis Lapienis.

Outside of our Brampton optometry office, Dr. A. Lapienis enjoys playing soccer, spending time with his wife,  2 kids and friends. He also enjoys traveling.

Meet Brampton Optometrist Dr. Hassan Qureshi

Dr. Hassan Qureshi graduated from State University New York in 1999, completing his residency in ocular disease. He also underwent hospital training in India in 1999.

Dr. Qureshi has since been practicing optometry at iSmile Optometry Centre for over 20 years and has become known for his skill and consistent quality in vision care. He enjoys doctor-patient interactions and taking the time to educate his patients about the importance of proper health care. He is particularly interested in the prevention, detection, and treatment of ocular diseases.

When he’s not in our Brampton optometry office providing exceptional vision care, Dr. Qureshi enjoys travelling and playing basketball. He also speaks Urdu and Punjabi.

Meet Brampton Optometrist Dr. Harjit Gill

Dr. Harjit Singh Gill received his Doctor of Optometry in 2021 and his  Bachelor of Science in 2017, both of which were from the University of Waterloo.  After spending 8 years of schooling in Waterloo, Dr. Gill is now back in Brampton, where he grew up and is looking forward to providing high quality eye care for his patients.  Dr. Gill completed his clerkship at multiple clinics in the GTA and realized the importance of taking the time to explain and educate patients on their eye conditions as it builds trust and a strong doctor-patient relationship.  Dr. Gill’s optometric interests are in primary eye care, dry eyes, glaucoma,  cataracts, diabetes,  and other conditions. Further to his studies, Dr. Gill volunteered with the Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB) as a Vision Mate where he helped individuals that were visually impaired use a computer, play board games, organize their office and more.

Dr. Gill is fluent in Punjabi, Urdu and Hindi, so don’t hesitate to reach out.  After work you can find Dr. Gill enjoying time with his family, riding his  motorcycle, or cruising in his Jeep!
